Family Room Addition, Malahide

Project Overview

The client had three kids who were getting older and a dog and wanted to use some space to the side of the house to make some more family space on the ground floor of the house.

We designed a room which was open at both ends so that it connected to the front and back gardens.  We also introduced a clearstory window down the centre of the room which allowed the room to be a low as possible along the boundary wall but also provided a lot of height and light into the room.  The room was connected to the main living room of the house by lowering an existing window and installing a sliding screen.

The room was prefabricated into panels which were assembled on site to reduce the disturbance of the construction period and the work was completed in 6 weeks.
