St. Margaret’s Road

House Renovation in Malahide

Project Overview

This 1940’s house had one previous owner and effectively nothing had been changed since it was built.

We designed a 40m2 extension, which was exempt from planning permission, to the rear of the house.  This was connected to the rooms at the back of the house to create a generous open plan living space which opened up to the garden.  Some roof lights were added to improve the quantity and quality of natural light.  On the first floor we added some extra space to the master bed room and rearranged the other bedrooms and upgraded the bathrooms.

The house improved its BER rating from a G to an A3, by adding 200mm of external insulation and achieving good air tightness.  The house maintains a constant comfortable temperature year round.
