The Rise

Project Overview

The project was developed in response to a planning refusal on a mews lane in Malahide.  A group of residents came together to try to a collaborative approach to the planning process.

We firstly agreed an overall masterplan with the local authority that included adjustments to the roads and access, the size of the houses and the look and feel of the street.  The house type we designed had a repeating element which included the stairs, toilets and kitchen but the living room and the bedrooms were flexible and could be adapted to suit each individuals requirements.  We developed particular houses for each individual client that reflected their own particular needs, but each house fitted into the overall street rhythm, form and feel.

We lodged all of the planning applications at the same time and despite local objections we were granted planning by An Bord Pleanala.
